Troid Progress

Grr. This is blowing out of control. I need to cut this done. Also, the coding is getting pretty ridiculous. So I'm drinking. God this is fun.

Ok, I'm going to make a list of things I need, and a list of things I don't need.

PLATFORM ENGINE!

WEAPONS!

TWO BUTTONS!

So what am I doing with walking/running/crawling? It's slow paced. It's like low slow notes in the background. Plodding. Not enough action!

Fuck crawling. There's going to be move and jump. Double speed, too. And shoot. Shoot shoot shoot. That's it. That sounds good.

I need more whiskey.

Troid Progress

I've made some more progress in Project Troid. The basic movement engine is set up, and I'm just making some tweaks to it. All of the movement and animation is working out really well. The player can walk, run, jump, super jump, crouch, crawl, and pull out his different guns. It all looks pretty slick.

I've been wondering what I can do to eliminate the lock & key mechanics of the game, and I've come up with a few ideas, but I've also realized that you can't really do that for 100% of the game. I want to add other abilities. They might not be necessary for beating the end boss, but they will help expand the areas beforehand.

Project Troid

These are some graphics I've been doing. I might not be doing a space shooter at all.



I've been talking with a friend of mine. He's interested in doing a Cave Story/Metroid type game. I don't think doing something as charming or grand as those games is in the cards for my first game back, but I don't want to cop out either. I want the game to have a feeling of wonder and awe. I might try to do something with lots of layers and as you progress through the game you move along the "Z-axis" - mostly just seeing stuff that you're going to in the background that you've come from or are going towards.

First post!

I have to start making games again. I tried getting back into Gearbolt Rage Reload XX Turbo Alpha HDR, but it's not working. Yet. I'm rusty. It sucks.

My first game I'm working on is going to be a space shooter. Left to right. Low res. Big bosses. Rock & Roll. Yeah, we'll see how this goes.
